You should search for regulations using this keyword (key acronym?). Automotive lighting requirements are extremely explicit. The allowable locations should be outlined as well and the output and light distribution. I know I glanced over them in a regulations book I just can't remember the title. Good luck and do it right... CHMSL's exist to save lives and at least your Z's rearend! What if someone were tailgating you in a new hummer H2 and couldnt see your tails over the huge freaking hood? You tap your brakes and thats all it would take. The CHMSL would have a better chance of alerting that driver.
